A video has gone viral on Twitter in Pakistan on Wednesday night in which a woman claiming to be the wife of a Pakistani army officer can be seen cursing an on duty police constable at the checkpoint.

In the first part of the video, the woman tells the constable that she is the wife of a colonel and cannot be stopped. In the second part of the video, the woman gets out of the car, removes the roadblocks and leaves, cursing the constable.

However, according to military sources, the incident took place on May 20 at around 5 pm in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the Hazara Expressway in Mansehra while she was traveling from Mansehra to Shankiari. Military sources have confirmed that the woman’s husband belongs to the Pakistan Army, who is a lieutenant colonel.

Military sources also confirmed that the said officer was also posted outside the Frontier Force Regiment Center in September 2018 for insulting a traffic policeman. After the video surfaced, the hashtag “Colonel’s wife” not only became a trend on Twitter, but also became a top trend, with users questioning whether such behavior with a uniformed official was acceptable.

A large number of users have condemned the incident and termed the woman’s behavior as shameful. Journalist Rai Saqib Kharal wrote: “Watching the video of Colonel’s wife reminded me of DPO Pakpattan. His force also stopped the first lady’s ex-husband’s car. “You don’t know who I am.”

Rai Saqib further wrote: “There is a collective thinking of this country. We all have petty thinking about breaking the law, and that’s what this woman did. ” A user named Zubair Awan wrote: ‘Despicable and shameful. No one is above the law. She is defaming an entire organization. The army must remove such minds from its offices. This woman should be behind bars as soon as possible. Greetings to the brave policeman.

A user named Ali Raza wrote: ‘The colonel’s wife is neither a colonel herself nor an institution in itself. The video is of an ordinary citizen, who broke the law and should be punished. Tariq Pervez, former director general of Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), wrote: “I hope that according to the law, a case will be registered against this woman and she will be arrested. Not like her husband who was transferred for misconduct.

While social media users continued to express anger over the woman’s inappropriate behavior, the official who performed his duties was also praised. A user named Muneeb Moni wrote: “Hello to this law abiding policeman, these are my heroes.” Another user wrote: “I salute this police officer for his courage in performing his duties and challenging the status quo.”
