Petroleum Woes

This has now become a monthly pattern, Ogra announces a proposed absurd price hike and then government comes up with a smaller number to be seen as doing a favor to the masses. It’s getting bad to worse day by day. No practical decision just illusion. This is a reaction of non-practical thinking and planning. Why isn’t the government reducing indirect tax and collecting direct taxes as promised before the election?

Perpetual hike in utility bills, petroleum, direct and indirect taxing, the business communities are being destroyed. There is bad news every month for the people. The government must realize the capacity of people to pay in this country. There is no economic growth that people earn more and pay more in taxes. The economy has shrunk. It’s just naya and super expensive Pakistan with opportunities of growth thrown out of perspective for masses.

The Federal Government and OGRA plays politics in petroleum prices. Since the mid December PTI was giving an impact to the public that Government is going to reduce petrol prices at par with to reduce petrol Rs.15.00 per liter and 10.00 per liter in diesel. OGRA recommended Rs.9.50 reduction in petrol but actual reduction was 4.26. These all were gimmicks and to deceive the masses.

Due to devaluation of Pakistani rupees and IMF pressure the present government is unable and incapable to run their daily affairs on their choice. Due to IMF the government has agreed to inform in advance that Rs.160 billions new mini budget will be implemented with the consent and approval of IMF.

Pakistan has received 9.1 B aid in the last 09 month and the economy is still not stable. Economy revival is based on economic reform, which PTI has failed to bring. Why making the previous governments a bar in measuring your own performance? Incompetent crooks were running the affairs of previous governments. Where is the change that PTI promised?

There is much difference between “just talking and doing work practically”. PTI government is just sloganeering even when they are in power. Nation called for change from this reign but in return they received inflation, unemployment, poverty, rupee devaluation and political uncertainty.

When PTI were in opposition they were claiming that the inflation rises high due to indirect taxes. What happened to those indirect taxes? Should not the suggestion be made now to take coaching classes from Ishaq Dar? Please, for the sake of national interest start this summer.

To better the economic condition PTI government promised to bring billions of dollars investment from overseas Pakistanis which is yet to arrive, since not even overseas Pakistanis are willing to trust the government for their incompetence so far and no economic plan which may provide some hope to the common man.

Where the old ‘Asad Umer’ has gone, who used to work our fair petrol prices at PKR 45-50? Even having taken the impact of increased global fuel prices and devaluation impact, the revalued price per his calculation should not be more than PKR 70 per litre. Can government, withstand by any of its claims made since 2007 OR they were also mere political slogans? If this is so, then where is the ‘change’, in the decisions only?

While the Corruption Mafias are enjoying all kinds of relaxation with VIP protocols. The commoners are gravely suffering from these price hikes. Where is the recovery of looted money from the Corruption Mafias? Why Shahbaz Sharif is enjoying the cool breeze of London and getting bail extensions?

Coming days would be a big test for competence of PTI especially with regards to economy. They have showed ignorant arrogance on other fronts but survived but economy would not be that easy. Mishandling of economy would have its political consequences.
