Shameless Rulers

Lets pose for the camera.

The Pakistani ruler’s moral bankruptcy is on display during natural disasters. This bankruptcy is sugar-coated by way of religion. This was revealed recently when Tablighi Jamaat leader Maulana Tariq Jamil met Prime Minister Imran Khan.

When Maulana arrived to meet the Prime Minister, the two did not shake hands to avoid Corona-infection. The purpose of the meeting was also to discuss the virus-triggered crisis. During the meeting, the Prime Minister requested the Maulana to hold prayers across the country for an end to pandemic.

Two days before this meeting, a video clip of Maulana Tariq Jamil appeared in which Maulana was stating that disease and death are fated by Allah. If Allah wills only then a person may get sick otherwise it’s all safe. He cited the example of the Mumbai plague. He said: people died of plague in one house but nothing happened in the adjoining house.

Will return to Maulana’s “philosophy” some other day. For now, I will discuss the insensitivity of Pakistan’s Prime Minister in deploying religion for political purposes and to conceal his own shortcomings.

In such testing times when countries are going for lockdowns, people are being trained to deal with the Corona virus, China has quarantined the entire country, Spain is nationalizing private hospitals, billions of people have self-isolated themselves, Kuwait has amended the Adhan so that people can pray at home instead of the mosques…the Prime Minister of Pakistan is calling on an ignorant and unwise religious scholar for prayers.
On the other hand, a citizen suffering from coronavirus at Lahore’s Mayo Hospital died owing to unavailability of ventilator at the hospital.

It is the same Prime Minister who laid down the foundation stone for a university of spirituality last year. Such a fanatic can be compared with the religious extremists in India who are organizing Cow-urine parties to battle coronavirus.

And if only prayers are needed and if Maulana Tariq Jameel’s prayers have such an effect, then some more prayers should be offered. One immediate prayer may be that Pakistan’s external debt is retired. Incidentally, the government has paid $ 33 billion in order to retire debt, according to Firdous Ashiq Awan.
Let us also pray that an outbreak of the plague is not happening despite tonnes of garbage spdread across the country.

The rulers of Saudi Arabia are way better than that of fanatic custodian of Riayast-e-Madina. True, the former are certainly cruel enough to chop a journalist into pieces but they are aware that it is not sufficient to shutdown Holy Kaaba rather it needs to be cleaned scientifically.
