The centuries-old tradition was shattered and the Christian community in the Vatican did not have a public gathering for Easter. Iranian spiritual leaders revealed the possibility that there might not be a communal worship in the month of Ramadan. The Saudi government is considering calling off Hajj this year. During the Corona epidemic, there has also been a judgment of the Egyptian Al-Azhar (Islam’s prestigious university) regarding gatherings in the mosque. However, the logic of Pakistani Mullahs is the most extraordinary because they believe, if the barber, mechanic, plumber, tailor can all open their wares, Why can’t they?
Just as the business of the traders has been affected by the lockdown, so too has the business of these Mullahs during this pandemic. The mosques are closed around the world, but in Pakistan many Mullahs get paid for leading prayers (Taraweeh) in the holy month of Ramadan, just like Shia (Zakirins) in the month of Muaharam. Therefore, this rebellious attitude is because of their never ending appetite for money.
It is almost the same behavior as of the Tableeghi jamaat who played a vital part in spreading the disease across the country. The pandemic far worse than Coronavirus is the mindset that people need guidance from these so called religious preachers. If places of worship are protected from the virus, then these mullahs are right. Better let the doctors and the health workers go home, and send all the corona affected patients to the mosques.
Instead of giving a positive and constructive thought these clerics are talking their own language of hypocrisy and divide. Ever wondered why religions of ancient world became obsolete? Because they developed people like them who define religion. The obscurantists explain religion and not the progressives.
I firmly believe the outbreak of epidemics or pandemics to their understanding are all Greek to these ego driven maniacs. They are brainless, conscienceless, uneducated and immoral, singularly driven by a desire of cheap popularity. They have no true sincerity for the country, nation, its people and its institutions. Once, they were reserved for only Nikah, (circumcision), etc., and that is the only role they are capable of or even more suited to, shouldn’t be allowed to destroy a civilized, peaceful society by injunction of their dogma, bigotry, and intolerance.
The day Pakistan will get rid of these devious and emotional corporate clerics, the journey towards improvement will begin.
