An ICC board meeting on Monday postponed the T20 World Cup scheduled to be held in Australia later this year, in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 will be held October – November 2021 with the final on 14 November 2021

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 will be held October – November 2022 with the final on 13 November 2022

ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 will be held in India October – November 2023 with the final on 26 November 2023

Earlier, Cricket Australia chairman Earl Eddings had said it was “unlikely” and “unrealistic” that the Men’s T20 World Cup will take place in Australia between October 18 and November 15.

However, the ICC had been deliberating on the fate of the big ticket event for past two months before eventually taking the final call. In May, former CA CEO Kevin Roberts had pointed out that the fate of the T20 World Cup was under “very high risk” given the circumstances.

With the T20 World Cup now out of the way, the BCCI and PCB can begin firming up plans for the Indian Premier League and Pakistan Super League to go ahead. With spike in the coronavirus cases, the franchise-based tournament is most likely to be shifted to the United Arab Emirates, once the Indian government gives its nod, while PSL authorities are likely to schedule the remaining games in Pakistan in early November.
