Leading Afghan actress and director Saba Sehar, who was injured in a shooting by unknown individuals in the Afghan capital Kabul, regained consciousness after being in a coma for 20 hours.
According to details, Afghanistan’s first film director and actress Saba Sehar, 44, was injured in the assassination attempt. She was rushed to a local hospital where she fell into a coma during treatment.
According to the news agency, three unidentified armed assailants targeted Saba Sahar while she was travelling in her car with her son and opened fire on her from three sides.
She was accompanied by her driver and two bodyguards. She and her bodyguards were also injured in the firing while her son remained safe. Police say the attackers managed to escape.
Saba Sahar’s husband Aimal Zaki told the media that Saba was shot four times in the abdomen after which she was in a coma and after about 20 hours she regained consciousness. According to her, Saba’s condition is now out of danger.
As well as being a film director and actress, Saba Sehar has also been a regularly trained senior police officer. She has made several documentaries and feature films so far.
Saba has been serving in the police department for more than 10 years and was recently appointed to the Special Police Force overseeing gender affairs.
