Rule of Law is Crippled

A man accused of blasphemy for claiming that he was a prophet has been shot dead in a courtroom in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar, police officials say, the latest violence associated with Pakistan’s strict blasphemy laws. Tahir Ahmad Naseem was shot six times during a hearing in his case at a district court

Amazing! When everyone thought things can’t be any worse here you go Pakistan. The country can’t fight corruption, terrorism, nepotism and pretty much anything else but you showed Blasphemous who is the boss!

Reading about events in Pakistan every day make me feel like I have been transported back to a hideously unimaginable time and place where soulless ghouls with beards, hollow eyes and twisted hearts and minds have cowered the majority into submission — save for some keyboard warriors — through their ruthless and frightening harnessing of extreme intolerance and unspeakable violence. While the font of this evil has been identified for a long time, nobody will attack it at its source. Continue to tiptoe around the bleeding obvious and you will not have a country left worth saving.

I yearn to hear something like Pakistani scientists have today discovered a cheaper alternative to electricity or fossil fuel. All I hear is stories about this and that blasphemy case and that Pakistan feels extremely proud “it is one of the countries to have the most people jailed over its blasphemy laws.” Can we simply drop this crusade and come to the real world?

Pakistan should launch a campaign to spread awareness about TOLERANCE. If we treat people like this, are we not complimenting the mentality of Taliban? An internationally recognized offense? We are beyond delusional if anything. Where are our morals when we don’t even value a human life?

It would be great if people show the same zero tolerance to corruption, smuggling, rape, adultery, theft, exploitation of people, but no the religious bigotry instilled by the Mullahism in this country has pushed us back to the dark ages. This country is doomed, the people are thrown to the vultures, who can accuse, kill and manipulate in the name of religion.

The mindset has gone so deep that simple courts cannot fight this menace. It would need comprehensive steps of managing the madrassas, cutting off their funding, controlling the mullahs in the mosques who through their sermon are taking people backwards, bringing a change in curriculum of education. Poor and weak would keep suffering by the religious thugs and beasts wandering on Pakistani streets. This means “anarchy” Incidents like these if brushed under the carpet in the name of religion will have far reaching effects. Blasphemy law must be repealed. It has become an instrument for settling personal scores and vendettas.

  1. This is the failure of our justice system. You have mentioned that there are number of such cases but if only a single accused was given punishment as per law people would never took it on it own. And yes, this is certainly a zero tolerance. It cannot be stop with such poor justice system but with such few bold actions.
