India, the world’s second-largest country by population, however, has partially restored train service since May 12, easing the lockdown imposed to prevent Corona Virus.
However, there is still a massive suspension of train services and other public transport, making it difficult for millions of people to move from one place to another. Due to the closure of public transport, people across India are traveling on foot to move from one place to another and in the meanwhile they are also facing extremely difficult conditions.
A similar situation was faced by a pregnant woman from the state of Uttar Pradesh who had left the state of Maharashtra to go to her ancestral home. According to the India Today, a woman laborer in the state of Maharashtra traveled on foot with her husband to reach her ancestral home safely despite being pregnant. However, during the journey, the woman gave birth to a child.
According to the report, the woman, who started her journey on foot from Maharashtra Shutter, gave birth to a baby while traveling near Uttar Pradesh and her husband accompanied her in the process and she did so without any medical help. The woman’s husband said that when his wife gave birth, he rested for just two hours and then walked to his destination, traveling 150km to the Uttar Pradesh border.
After giving birth on the way, the woman, who was on foot, reached the Uttar Pradesh border and was rushed to a hospital by the Santa Block city administration, where she and the baby underwent a medical test and both were safe. Earlier this month, a woman traveling on foot from Telangana to Chhattisgarh gave birth to a baby.The woman, who lives in Telangana, also traveled on foot to her ancestral home in Chhattisgarh on May 5th to earn money, but gave birth to a child after traveling 70km.
The woman was accompanied by other women who gave birth to the baby with the help of other women, but was later rushed to a hospital by police in a nearby town. Earlier, a woman from Madhya Pradesh also gave birth to a child on foot. A woman from Madhya Pradesh had also walked from the city to her village due to work stoppage after the lockdown, but she gave birth before reaching the village. The woman was accompanied by several women workers on foot who helped the pregnant woman, but after giving birth, the woman was taken to hospital with the help of local authorities.
