Matiullah is scheduled to appear in the Supreme Court tomorrow and was abducted today. It should be now clear to the judiciary who is the Sicilian Mafia and who is the Godfather. No one has the right to kidnap Matiullah Jan. If there is any crime or guilt, file a case against it and present it in the court. Disappearing, killing, intimidating and silencing is what happens in a fascist state.
The journalist community must register their protests on media channels, courts, press conferences and take to the streets till the recovery of Matiullah Jan. Is the kidnapping of Matiullah Jan not contempt of court? Will the court take immediate notice of this enforced disappearance?
He was abducted from his home, his wife has confirmed. It’s a busy and populous city, the capital. If this is possible in broad daylight, that too in Islamabad then I fear if anyone is safe in this country even? Whoever speaks the truth, whoever removes the veil from ugly deeds, kidnap them, abduct them, lynch them or accuse them, get them strangled in fake cases. This is extortion, this is the most horrible form of fascism.
For how long? It may no longer be possible to silence these voices. The worst democracy is better than the best dictatorship in which people have the right to speak. Who says that there is freedom of speech in Pakistan? What kind of governance is there in Pakistan even, is this democracy? Unfortunately we live in a country where the walls of dictatorship are engineered with gigantic stones and are very high.
Matiullah Jan always raised the awareness of truth and truthfulness in journalism. He is kidnapped for this crime. We condemn the kidnapping of Matiullah Jan and demand from the government that he should be recovered immediately.
